A local court on Friday remanded Abdul Wahid Mohiuddin to 15 days’ Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) custody.
A local court on Friday remanded Abdul Wahid Mohiuddin to 15 days’ Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) custody. The ATS has arrested Wahid for alleged involvement in the triple blasts in Mumbai on July 13, 2011, in which 27 persons were killed.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Delhi had arrested Wahid and the Mumbai ATS had taken him into its custody from the Delhi jail.
After bringing Wahid to Mumbai, the ATS produced him before the special MCOCA judge V.V. Patil. Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam argued before the court that he is alleged to have been involved in the conspiracy of the 13/7 blasts and, to carry out further investigations about his role in the blasts, the ATS requires his custody.
According to the police, Wahid has revealed during interrogation his involvement in the blasts and his connection with Riyaz and Yasin Bhatkal.
The ATS suspects he was allegedly involved in hawala transactions also and hence sought his police custody.
Advocate Sharif Shaikh opposed the ATS request, saying he was already in NIA custody and was taken into custody by the ATS from Delhi jail and hence there is no need to remand him to ATS custody. However, after hearing arguments, the judge remanded him to ATS custody till August 5.
