Aarey colony police has arrested three youngsters, including two teenage repeat offenders, for robbery and assault.
According to police sources, Ajay Singh, a local resident of Filmcity who works in a local mall as a sales boy, had gone to Chhota Kashmir on Tuesday on a leisure trip. He was then suddenly attacked by Elumalai Farini (23), Sagar Garidi (18) and Krushna Subramanyam Harijan (19) and they also robbed him of his wallet and mobile phone. The trio later fled the spot.
Mr Singh registered a police complaint over the incident on Thursday. Deciding to lay a trap to nab the accused persons, the police deployed a few officials in plainclothes in Chhota Kashmir on Thursday and waited for the trio. After a long wait in the area, Mr Singh identified the offenders and informed the officials, who arrested them.They were booked under various sections of the IPC for robbery and assault.
All the accused persons stay in Aarey unit 31 area. Garidi and Farini are repeat offenders and have cases of chain, bag snatching and hooliganism registered against them, the police said. Mr Singh’s mobile phone was also recovered from the trio. Officials are also checking if Harijan was also involved in other criminal cases too.
