Three drunk men on bike assault traffic police, held

The Sanpada police has arrested three drunken men after they allegedly assaulted an on-duty traffic police officer on Saturday morning. The cop was injured and was treated at a hospital.

The Sanpada police has arrested three drunken men after they allegedly assaulted an on-duty traffic police officer on Saturday morning. The cop was injured and was treated at a hospital.

In what was yet another incident of a policeman being assaulted, the drunken men, who were all on one motorcycle, beat up the constable after he stopped them during a routine check. The incident took place at Sanpada Moraj Junction, and the policeman suffered injuries to his hands and legs. The police has registered an FIR against the three accused after arresting them from the spot.

Sources said that the incident occurred around 1 am on Saturday. “Traffic police constable Arun Yashwant Wadekar was standing at the junction when he saw three boys riding on only one Activa bike (MH 43 AU6105). He also found that they were breaking other rules, since the rider wasn’t wearing a helmet, and so he stopped them. All the three accused were drunk and after the policeman stopped them, they started arguing with the officer. During the argument, when the policeman took their bike key, one of them hit him and the other two then joined in beating him up,” said an officer.

He added, “Sanpada police station officials were on patrol at night when they saw the incident and arrested the three youngsters from the spot. They also immediately admitted the traffic cop to a Vashi hospital.”

The three arrested accused have been identified as Prajyot Mosamkar (28), Vishal Mane (22) and Tejas Jagtap (22).
