Three arrested for manhandling BMC engineer
The police arrested three persons from the same family for allegedly manhandling a BMC junior engineer when she was on duty in Kandivali area on Friday.
The police arrested three persons from the same family for allegedly manhandling a BMC junior engineer when she was on duty in Kandivali area on Friday. According to police sources, the accused family mistakenly thought the engineer had come on behalf of a developer with whom they have an ongoing property dispute and misbehaved with her.
The Kandivali police arrested three persons on Friday night after Komal Bohi, the BMC female junior engineer, filed a complaint.
Commenting on the incident, a police official said they were booked under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code for assaulting a public servant.
According to police sources, the matter was later mutually sorted out between both the parties and Ms Bohi withdrew her complaint.
The accused were not produced in court on Saturday. The accused were identified as Gopal Banjara, his mother Paru Banjara and his sister Shobha Banjara. The Banjara family stays in Kandivali and on Friday Ms Bohi visited the place for inspecting a plot of land. When Ms Bohi was inspecting the plot the Banjaras had a heated argument with her and then they allegedly manhandled Ms Bohi.
