Thousands of students who appeared for various exams of University of Mumbai in April/May 2016 are worried they may lose their jobs while others say they will have to take a drop in their pursuit of post-graduate studies as the university is yet to declare results of some exams and also the revaluation results. The university has said various problems like lack of sufficient examiners has led to the delay but said they would be addressed soon.

In June, the MU had announced that it had declared the TYBCom, TYBSc and TYBA results within the stipulated 45 days of the exams being conducted. However, it had failed to mention when it would be declaring the results of other courses.

“I had taken up a job in May on the condition that I would be submitting my results in June. However, my office has given me an ultimatum to submit my academic qualifications soon or resign,” said a student. Students who had applied for revaluation of the declared results also face a similar problem.

Deepak Wasave, in-charge controller of examination, MU, said, “We are aware of the problem faced by students and are doing our best to address the issue. However, there are some practical and logistical problems, which, unless addressed, will not create a permanent solution for the problem. The examination section has already made rules stricter for examiners.”
