The Kashimira police of Mira Bhayander area has arrested a school teacher in connection with a HSC paper leak incident.
The incident had occurred on March 4 this year, on the day of the accounts examination, when a student was caught with a digital image of the question paper in his mobile phone 30 minutes before the exam.
The student had received the accounts question paper on the mobile application WhatsApp. He had forwarded the question paper to some of his friends, using the same messaging service.
The accused has been identified as Sunil Barve, who teaches at a school in Ghatkopar. Confirming this, an official from Kashimira police station told The Asian Age that Barve, who was arrested on Wednesday, was remanded for a day’s police custody and then granted bail.
Sources said Barve’s school was an examination centre for HSC students. On March 4, the Ghatkopar school examination centre received the accounts question paper, and Barve managed to get copies of the question paper and clicked a picture of it using his mobile, the police said. Later he allegedly sent the question paper by WhatsApp to a student to whom he was close.
After a student was caught on the day of the examination with a digital image of the question paper in his phone, the police traced the source for the image to Barve.
