In the third such arrest within a month, the Maharashtra Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Sunday arrested another man from Madina Nagar in Parbhani district for his alleged links with the terror outfit ISIS. The 24-year-old arrested man was identified as Shaikh Iqbal Shaikh Kabeer Ahmed.
According to sources, Ahmed was in touch with another suspected ISIS operative Naser bin Yafai Chaus (31), who was arrested on July 14. Officials informed that following a tip-off about Ahmed’s involvement in ISIS, a team of ATS on Sunday arrested him from his home in Parbhani.
“Chaus was in touch with another accused, Farooque, based in Syria, and was trying to influence youths through social networking sites. It led to the arrest of Shahid Khan (24) from the district on July 24. Khan had stored explosives in his house and was allegedly plotting a massive terror attack in the state,” said an ATS official.
