The Bombay high court on Monday asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to submit a chart containing the details of exactly which accused — including NCP leader Pankaj Bhujbal — had filed for bail and other applications, and exactly what charges the accused are facing in connection with a money-laundering case. The court also extended the interim protection from arrest granted to Pankaj till the next date of hearing.

When the matter came up for hearing before Justice P.N. Deshmukh, the judge asked the ED to submit the chart by August 26, and added that the court would fix a date for hearing on that day.

Pankaj and others had filed anticipatory bail applications after a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court issued non-bailable warrants against them in the Maharashtra Sadan scam.

The ED has already arrested Pankaj’s father and former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal and his cousin Sameer, who are the prime accused in the case.

The law enforcement agency is probing Bhujbal, Sameer and Pankaj in the case concerning a contract Bhujbal had allegedly given a builder in 2005 without inviting tenders, when he was the state PWD minister.

Around Rs 870 crore of suspicious money was generated from the deal later and the ED is now trying to trace that money.
