State to get Rs 2 lakh for building roads

During a video conference (VC) with the CM and other state officials, Mr Gadkari announced financial support of Rs 50,000 crore from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for construction of new highways in the state. Mr Gadkari announced another package of Rs 50,000 crore for the construction of roads along the state’s coast line.
Mr Fadnavis said that, overall, Maharashtra would get Rs 1 lakh crore for development of roads and will receive another Rs 2 lakh crore over a period of five years. “The highways ministry has sanctioned and made provision of Rs 50,000 crore for Maharashtra and will also provide Rs 6,000 crore for Pandharpur palakhi route,” Mr Gadkari assured CM during his VC.
Mr Gadkari asked the state to make details project report to convert its two-lane 500-km-long palakhi route into four-lane route from Dehu Road to Pandharpur and Alandi to Pandharpur. For this, Mr Gadkari asked chief minister to speed up the land acquisition procedure. “We have already given Rs 4,000 crore for land acquisition, and if more is needed, we will give the amount,” Mr Gadkari said.
The National Highway ministry has expanded its plan to construct NH in the state from its previous target of 4,200 km to 22,000 km. A new Nagpur-Solapur-Ratnagiri highway worth Rs 8,000 crore will be constructed and the state will need to acquire 2,400 hectares. This new highway will go through Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, Osmanabad, Hingoli, Nanded, Yeotmal, Wardha and Nagpur district.
He said the highway would benefit Vidarbha, Marathwada, Western Maharashtra and Konkan division of the state.
He also said the State Bank of India would provide loan of Rs 560 crore for the Panvel-Indapur segment on the Mumbai-Goa national highway.
Meanwhile, the CM took review of railway, metro and irrigation projects. He approved the direct purchase of land instead of acquisition for Wardha-Nanded and Wadsa-Desaiganj railway line. The chief minister also expressed happiness over the Ahmednagar-Beed railway line work and the progress of the Nagpur Metro.
