A day after Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) gave a clean chit to revenue minister Eknath Khadse’s personal aide in the alleged Rs 30 crore bribery case and Mumbai police ruled out possibility of any telephone exchange between Mr Khadse and fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, party seniors on Monday came out in strong support of the minister and decided to take the union government’s achievements in the past two years to the people of Maharashtra.
At a press conference held after a special meeting of party dignitaries at party headquarters in Dadar, state president of BJP, Raosaheb Danve, said, “The opposition has levelled baseless and frivolous charges against Mr Khadse. There is not even an iota of truth in the allegations. The state agencies have completed their investigation and have found nothing against Mr Khadse. The opposition is levelling charges against Mr Khadse with an aim to create confusion among party workers and dither them. But, let me tell them the party is with Mr Khadse. The party is united over the issue.”
Mr Danve also said that the party would organise several programmes from May 26 to June 15 to effectively take the centre’s achievements to the people on the occasion of the government’s second anniversary.
Meanwhile, speaking at the concluding session of the party conclave, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the government at the centre had proved to be a super achiever in the past two years and party workers needed to take these achievements to the people. “The government has done excellent work. Once the schemes initiated by the government are near completion in five years, the people will be very happy to welcome party workers who approach them. Workers need to create a rapport with people and the second anniversary of the government is the best occasion for that,” he said.
Union Minister for Railways, Suresh Prabhu, put forth the union government’s achievements while addressing the gathering that was attended by several union and state ministers, MPs, MLAs and organisational heads of the party. “The Modi government has given something or the other to each cross section of the society,” he said.
