Around 17.25 lakh students will be appearing for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam being conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) from Tuesday, March1.
Class 10 and 12 exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) will also begin the same day with around 2.19 lakh students appearing from the Chennai region, to which Mumbai belongs.
MSBSHSE secretary Krishna Patil said that a total 17,27,496 students, 9,55,186 male and 7,72,310 female, would appear for SSC exams, which will go on till March 29. This includes 66,815 repeater students. There will also be 6,856 differently-abled students appearing for SSC exams. The exams will be held at 4,535 exam centres across nine divisions of the board in the state. Two hundred and fifty two squads will be appointed to curb copying and each division has been instructed to form vigilance committees to look into copying cases. Students unable to appear on scheduled dates can appear under “out of turn” scheme on March 30 and 31.
Meanwhile for CBSE, the Chennai region will see 162,509 students appear for class 10 and 56,948 students for class 12 exams. Students in India can dial the toll-free CBSE helpline at 1800 11 8004, operational from 8 am to 10 pm till April 22, 2016 on all days.
