IIT Bombay’s annual science and technology festival to promote technology, scientific thinking and innovation — Techfest — kicked off on Saturday at the institute’s Powai campus. More than 45,000 attendees were recorded on Day One of the fest, which has grown over the years to be quite the visual spectacle.

Included in Techfest this year are exhibitions of world’s most advanced robots and Humanoids from Switzerland, South Korea and other countries. There are also lectures from eminent personalities including Dr K. Radhakrishnan (ex-chairman of ISRO), Eric Klinker (CEO of BitTorrent) and others.

Among the highlights at Techfest this year are: lIIT Directors’ Conclave which will include directors from renowned IITs like Bombay, Patna and Hyderabad sharing their views. A Q and A session will be held with students.

lInternational Summit: A platform for students to interact with the corporate world. The keynote lecture was by Bob Frankston, co-creator of Spreadsheets, followed by a panel discussion by the CEOs and presidents of companies like Oracle, CISCO, Qualcomm, IBM and many more. The summit will end with a workshop on Internet Of Things conducted by Texas Instruments.

lTechfest App, which incorporates the Beacons technology by which the user will be able to obtain offline notifications.
