The state government-run schools will soon have scientists and researchers visiting them and conducting workshops to get students interested in various streams of science. Education minister Vinod Tawde during a visit to a science exhibition held at a Vile Parle school said he was impressed with the projects and would ensure that the students get first-hand training from experts to improve them.According to Uday Nare, overall coordinator of the Mumbai Suburban District Education Department’s Science Exhibition held at Children’s Welfare Center High School, Mr Tawde spent a lot of time speaking to the students who had put up the exhibits.
“The exhibits were put up by students from different schools and Mr Tawde saw most of the exhibits and asked questions regarding them from the students. The students were very happy to oblige,” said Mr Nare.
A visibly impressed Mr Tawde tweeted thereafter ‘Mumbai Suburban Dist Edu Dept’s Science Exhibition imbibes a research aptitude in students, encouraging them to explore the scientific study.’
The minister also addressed the students and teachers present there and said it was heartening to see the projects and the need of the hour was to take them to the next level.
“Mr Tawde said he would be inviting scientists and researchers to visit the schools that participated in the exhibitions so that they can give expert advise on the projects being made by the students as well as encourage them to do more complex projects,” said Mr Nare, adding that owing to financial constraints, most of the projects were basic in nature but the concepts being portrayed through them were revolutionary and a little help could result in the projects becoming working projects.
