The state government on Tuesday approved a proposal to set up a single-window system ‘Maitri Kaksha’ where investors can get all the permissions needed for setting up a business. The Cabinet took the decision to improve the ease of doing business to attract more investment in the state. The decision is assumed to be important, as it has come just before the Make In India week, the ambitious programme by the Centre to boost industries, to be celebrated from February 13.
The state government has been trying for over a year to start a single-window system to get all the permissions for the industries. At present, investors have to go through different layers of approvals in various offices, which delays the process and makes work tedious. “The Cabinet today approved concept of single-window system and also gave its nod to new recruitments required for setting up the ‘Maitri Kaksha’. The government has sanctioned '13.36 crore for that,” an official from the industries department said. The system will be partially online so that the investors can pay the fee online, he added.
In order to improve the ease of doing business, the state government on Saturday scrapped five permissions required for setting up hotels. The scrapped licences include permission for food registration certificate, construction of swimming pool, place of public entertainment licence A and B and presentation licence.
The BJP-led government had vowed to reduce the permissions so that more industries can come up in the state. In a period of one year, permissions have been reduced to 21 and the industries department is trying its best to reduce approvals further, the official said.
Meanwhile, the state Cabinet also approved a special scheme for Dalit industrialists called the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Special Scheme. The scheme will be beneficial for scheduled castes and scheduled tribe entrepreneurs having 100 per cent ownership of the business in the production and service sector, the official said.
“The government has planned to reserve 20 per cent of small and medium plots of MIDC land for backward community entrepreneurs. The government will give them a concession of 30 per cent if they want to purchase MIDC land and a 20 per cent concession for other plots,” the official added. The entrepreneurs will also get concessions in electricity bills, interest rate etc, he said.
