The deceased, Shahnawaz Aslam Shaikh (20) and his younger brother Yasir Aslam Shaikh (14), were on their way to the Deonar-based civic abattoir to buy a goat for the upcoming Id-ul-Zoha, or Bakri Id, according to the police. Their mother, Rehana Aslam Shaikh (40), who was also riding pillion too sustained serious injuries and is being treated at the Rajawadi Hospital.
The truck driver was arrested by the Parksite police after the incident. “He was driving in the wrong lane and rammed into the bike,” said a police source.
PSI A. A. “We have arrested him under relevant sections of the IPC and the Motor Vehicle Act and produced him in the Vikhroli court, where he was remanded in judicial custody for eight. Further investigation in the case is on,” said a police source.
