Shiv Sena supporting water mafia, alleges BJP
The BJP, which has been blaming Shiv Sena for turning a blind eye towards water pilferage, has now accused its alliance partner of sheltering water mafia in the city.
The BJP, which has been blaming Shiv Sena for turning a blind eye towards water pilferage, has now accused its alliance partner of sheltering water mafia in the city. It has demanded that people involved in water thefts should be booked under MCOCA, as it is an organised crime.
NCP corporator Savita Pawar and her husband Sharad Pawar, who is also an ex-corporator, joined Shiv Sena a few days ago. The BJP has alleged that Santosh Pawar, the brother of Sharad Pawar, has been illegally selling water to the tanker lobby in Chandivali.
Speaking to reporters, BJP’s newly appointed spokesperson Bhalchandra Shirsat said, “BJP Yuva Morcha vice-president Manoj Tiwari has filed a complaint of water pilferage against Savita Pawar’s husband and brother-in-law. But, Santosh Pawar has threatened him to withdraw the complaint.”
The Shiv Sena is sheltering water mafias by giving them entry in the party, said BJP leaders. Several complaints have been filed by social activists too against public representatives in Chandivali about water thefts. However, civic officials are evasive about filing complaint against them.
“The police should take suo moto action against the water mafia. The water theft is an organised crime, which involves the water mafia and civic officials. Hence, they should be booked under MCOCA. The corporators should also be disqualified for their involvement in water thefts on the lines of illegal constructions,” said BJP group leader Manoj Kotak.
Some days ago the BJP had alleged there is large-scale scam in water supply by the tanker lobby and that the Sena was turning a blind eye to it.
