Shiv Sena says Narendra Modi magic did not work for BJP

The Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana on Friday questioned BJP’s claim of success in the five state assembly elections, results of which were announced on Thursday.

The Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana on Friday questioned BJP’s claim of success in the five state assembly elections, results of which were announced on Thursday. The party said that while the elections are being perceived as Congress’ decimation, what happened to the BJP in four states except for Assam was nothing different.

The Saamana edit targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the regional parties have done what the popular leaders of national parties cannot. BJP did not get big success in states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, ‘Modi magic’ did not work there.

“The five states results were expected. The regional parties did not lose their grip over the government. It has been reported that Congress was defeated badly after losing Assam and Kerala but then what about BJP’s position in states other than Assam Amit Shah had given slogan of Mamata-mukt West Bengal. If the BJP wanted to feel happy by just opening its account in Bengal then what was the need for making it a prestige issue for Narendra Modi and Amit Shah ” the Sena said.

Taking a dig at BJP further, the Sena said in Kerala, Left and Congress come to power in turn. “As per tradition, this time Congress lost and Communists came back to power in Kerala. The BJP has to take solace in their ‘Acche din’ as it only managed to open its account,” the Sena said. Even in Tamil Nadu, the people had trusted Jayalalithaa and given her power, it added.

Refusing to concede that it was success for BJP, the Sena said, “BJP did not get success in any state and the Modi magic did not work.”

The past few months have been stressful for the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance. The Sena has consistently been attacking BJP, especially through Saamana for its political moves. The sources said that as the BMC polls are nearing, the Sena needs to clear its stand to attract voters.
