The Baharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena have appeared trying to outdo each other in forcing a police action against comedian Tanmay Bhat after he posted a video of a mock conversation between Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar. The BJP and MNS have approached the police seeking FIR against Mr Bhat for making “derogatory” video against ‘Bharat Ratna’ Ms Mangeshkar and Mr Tendulkar while Shiv Sena has asked the CM to ensure police action against the comedian. In fact, the MNS has gone a step ahead and even threatened to teach a lesson to Mr Bhat in “MNS style”.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray has sent letter to cyber crime police to take action in the case. The letter states that because there are no stringent law in our country related to the cyber crime people like Tanmay Bhat get unnecessary publicity for his wired work.

“Bharat Ratnas Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar have been insulted by Tanmay Bhat and we demand his immediate arrest,” said Sanjay Khopkar, vice president Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

Mr Khopkar also said that his party will not allow any event that involves Mr Bhatt to take place in Mumbai.

Taking strong exception to the video, the Shiv Sena asked chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to take stringent action against AIB and Bhat for allegedly seeking to vitiate social harmony by mocking the national legends. Sena leader Neelam Gorhe wrote to Fadnavis seeking action against those behind the video which she said was made by people with “deranged mentality”.

“Such people try to misuse the popularity of icons like Sachin and Latatai for their own publicity. I have also written to Mumbai Police Commissioner seeking action against Tanmay Bhat and AIB,” Ms Gorhe said.

BJP leader Ashish Shelar has approached police commissioner Dattatray Padsalgikar after which commissioner has given ordered an enquiry in the matter. “There is a personal attack on Ms Mangeshkar and Tendulkar in the video,” he alleged.
