Shiv Sena lauds CM’s wife over remarks
Once again taking a dig at ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), over the inflated rates of pulses, Shiv Sena has asked that attention be paid to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta’s criticism on the same issue and demanded that the prices be reduced. The Sena has also thanked her for ‘raising the topic’.
“We are committed to the people who brought the change in power. They should be able to buy staple food like dal-rice and dal-roti. The government is not for hoarders and black marketers. It is important that the issue of tur dal was raised from the CM’s own kitchen. We thank Amruta vahini for that,” the Sena said in its mouthpiece Saamana on Friday. The Sena’s comments come after Amruta Fadnavis, while informally talking with journalists, agreed that the rates of pulses were inflated and stated that they should be reduced.
Mocking the BJP over the issue, the Sena said that voice of Amruta Fadnavis has added to the uproar by ordinary housewives over pulses. “Amruta vahini has warned that rates of tur dal should be reduced. She has even advised the government that middlemen should be kept away from consumers and farmers to keep control over the essential commodities. Amruta vahini can understand sentiments of women better,” the Sena said.
This is not the first time the Sena has slammed the BJP over tur dal prices. The Sena has even ridiculed the BJP’s announcement that it would distribute tur dal for Rs100 a kilo. “We had demanded that tur dal be brought for Rs120 per kg in the market. But the BJP went further and said that it should be brought at Rs100. However, the people of Maharashtra are still waiting for the tur dal at Rs100 per kg. We do not want to compete on the issue. You take all the credit but the people should get dal-rice,” the Sena said in its editorial.
