Sheena Bora murder: No bail for Indrani Mukerjea, but can consult private doctors
In a setback to Indrani Mukerjea, the special CBI court in city on Friday rejected her bail application in the murder case of her daughter Sheena Bora. The court, however, has granted her some relief by permitting her to get private medical treatment as she had sought bail on medical grounds.
Mukerjea had filed the bail application on February 5 saying that she was facing health issues to such a level that there was a threat to her life and it was difficult to get proper treatment in jail; hence she should be granted bail go get appropriate medical treatment.
Though special judge H.S. Mahajan rejected her bail plea, however, he clarified that he had passed some directions to jail authorities in his order regarding Indrani’s diet. The judge said that Indrani could take medical treatment from a private doctor in a private hospitals. He, however, also added that every quarter, a panel of doctors from state-run JJ Hospital should conduct her health check-up and send a report directly to the court.
In her bail application filed through advocate Gunjan Mangala she had said that she was suffering from ‘chronic small vessels ischemic changes’ as a result the supply of oxygen to brain may get interrupted which may result in brain stroke and is life threatening. She has also said that she gets blackouts time and again due to her condition.
