The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday opposed Peter Mukerjea’s bail plea in the Sheena Bora murder case, citing the reason that he was part of the murder conspiracy and had concealed information about the victim’s disappearance from his son and Sheena’s fiancé Rahul.
“Peter was in touch with prime accused and his wife Indrani Mukerjea from the day of Sheena’s murder (April 24, 2012) till her body was disposed the next day,” the CBI said in its reply on the bail application of Peter, who was arrested in the case on in November last year.
“He was also part of the conspiracy and had concealed the fact (about Sheena’s death) from his son Rahul Mukerjea,” the CBI added.
In his bail application filed though his lawyer Kushal Mor, Peter had said that the CBI had found no evidence to justify his arrest, although it had his custody for 11 days and even subjected him to psychoanalysis and polygraph tests.
The CBI also informed the court that certain important documents (including that of financial transactions in the case) are under its scrutiny and the investigation was still going on.
Special CBI judge H.S. Mahajan adjourned the hearing on Peter’s bail application till January 30. Meanwhile, Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai were on Saturday produced in the court, where Indrani’s daughter Vidhie (with Khanna), relatives of Khanna and brother and other relatives of Peter were present.
The CBI is likely to file its reply on the bail application filed by Khanna through his lawyer Shreyansh Mithare, on January 30. Further, Peter in his bail application, had also dismissed the charge that he misled his son Rahul (with whom Sheena had a romantic relationship) about her whereabouts after her “disappearance”.
