The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS) has called upon all to oppose the Ranragini Bhumata Brigade (RBB), which has announced its decision to entering the Garbhgruh (sanctum) of the Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik on March 7.

After bringing to the fore the issue of the right of women to enter all temples, the RBB has announced its decision to send activists to enter the Garbhgruh of Trimbakeshwar temple.

The RBB had sent a letter to the Shri Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust (STDT) asking it to allow women in the Garbhgruh, failing which they would agitate democratically and enter the Temple Garbhgruh. The STDT had replied to the letter and stated that according to tradition, they could not allow women inside the Garbhgruh.

Through a press release, HJS stated that, RBB’s decision to enter the Garbhgruh was a publicity stunt. “Every Devasthan (temple) has traditions. In the Trimbakeshwar temple both men and women are allowed for darshan. However only men are allowed inside the Garbhgruh,” the release stated.

It said that, on March 7, which is Mahashivratra Day, lakhs of devotees would arrive. “The timing of the agitation on this day would create a serious law and order problem,” the release said.
