The Kurar police of Malad has arrested a senior citizen for sodomising a 12-year-old boy. The accused was produced in court on Saturday and the court remanded him to police custody till April 1. The accused stays on the second floor and the victim on the first floor of the same chawl.

The victim, a student of class 7, stays with his parents and brother at Konkanipada, Malad (east). The accused lives alone and runs a business and officials have recovered a passport from his house with a Singapore visa. The victim’s family was friendly with the accused who bought toys and goodies for the children whenever he travelled out of town for business. Similarly, the victim and his brother would often visit the accused’s house to watch television. The victim’s father too runs a business so they had good relations with the accused.

Late on Friday, the victim’s mother realised her son was not at home so she thought he must have gone upstairs to meet the accused. Upon reaching the accused’s room, the mother saw the old man showing pornographic clips to her son on his mobile. Later, when she asked her son, he revealed that the accused had been sodomising him for two-and-a-half months and had threatened him into silence. The victim’s family approached the Kurar police station and lodged a case. DCP, Zone 12, Ramkumar, said, “The accused was booked under section 377 (Unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code, and the victim was sent for a medical examination.”

As the victim’s father had monetary dealings with the accused, the police suspect that the accused sodomised the victim over these dealings.
