Cuffe Parade police is on the lookout for a 22-year-old man who had allegedly been raping his 16-year-old cousin sister for around two years. He fled after the girl became pregnant in December, following which the police is searching for him.
The girl, who is from Aasam, was living with her sister in Cuffe Parade area. She had been attending a school in Mumbai for the past two years. Babu Shaikh, her cousin brother, used to visit her residence every two or three months. After his last visit in December, the girl got pregnant.
According to officials, Shaikh had had a crush on the victim for a long time. One and a half years ago Shaikh had molested the girl at her residence when their elder sister was not there, the police said. He had also raped the victim 18 months ago and in August 2015, he asked the girl’s elder sister about getting married to the victim, the police said. However, her sister had refused to agree.
Cuffe parade senior PI Deepar Patil said, “ The girl was admitted in the Kama hospital...We will record her statement once she becomes stable.”
