The Kandivali police is on the lookout for a security guard in connection with a case of housebreaking and robbery in the area in which valuables and cash worth Rs 2.80 lakh were stolen.
According to the police, Rakesh Kirtilal Seth (43), the complainant, who lives at Mathuradas Extension Road of Kandivali, left with his family on December 12 for Manor in Palghar area to visit a Jain temple there.
“Every day I leave for office at 7.15 am and return by 8 pm but as we had plans to visit the temple I returned by 3.30 pm on December 12 and later we all left from home,” Mr Seth told The Asian Age.
According to Mr Seth, when they were in Manor, one of their neighbors contacted them on the morning of December 13 and informed that the main door of their house looked half open and central lock looked broken.
The family immediately informed one of their relatives who stays nearby to check their house. About 8 pm on the same day, the family returned to their house and found cash and various valuables missing.
The valuables included gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1.80 lakh, Rs 50,000 in cash and a laptop, a camera and a mobile phone, Mr Seth said.
According to police sources, officials suspect the role of a temporary security guard of the building.
According to sources, a private security agency was in charge of the security of the building in which Mr Seth resides and their employee Parasnath Morya (45) has been employed as the security guard of the building for the past few years.
On December 7, he informed the secretary of the building that he was going to his native place and in his absence, for 10 days, his friend Ramesh Yadav would take his place along with his son.
The recovered CCTV footage from the building on December 13 shows Yadav leaving the building with his son at about 5 am, carrying a bag on his shoulder. Officials are now trying to track the location of Yadav, who is still at large.
