Rizvi, New Zealand college sign MoU to boost education

In a landmark move that will breathe new life into traditional courses, the Rizvi Education Society has entered into an agreement with one of the top universities in New Zealand.

In a landmark move that will breathe new life into traditional courses, the Rizvi Education Society has entered into an agreement with one of the top universities in New Zealand. Under the MoU, students opting for the traditional arts, science, commerce and self-financing courses will be able to pursue the course in India, as well as in New Zealand. After graduation, the student will be able to take up a job in New Zealand and after completing a year in service will become eligible for citizenship there.

Dr M.Z. Farouqui, principal of Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce said, “Statistics have revealed that traditional courses have seen a drop in enrolments over the past few years as students prefer to opt for courses that can get them a job soon after graduating. The thrust has been on professional courses and hence Rizvi Education Society decided to rekindle the interest in these courses by entering into an agreement with Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT). Students will now be able to pursue the degree course for three semesters in India and three semesters in New Zealand. The students will get a degree from MIT.” The MoU was signed by the two institutions on Tuesday and will be effective from the next academic year.

John Wadsworth, Dean, Faculty of Business and IT at MIT said, “This opportunity to collaborate with a prestigious institution like MIT, provides a unique opportunity for the students to not only gain a qualification from New Zealand, but also to gain hands-on, practical experience through internship/ research project.”
