Actor Riteish Deshmukh has donated Rs 25 lakhs to the initiative ‘Jalyukta Latur’ as his contribution towards drought relief programme in Maharashtra.
During his recent visit to his hometown, Latur, Mr Deshmukh donated the sum during his recent visit to his hometown, Latur, a press release issued by him said.
‘Jalyukta Latur', an initiative started by peoples' participation to make the parched district water sufficient. Under the initiative, people have taken up work of desilting Manjra river which provides water to the area. The Bluff Master actor visited the site and was impressed by the work done by Jalyukta Latur and decided to contribute towards the cause, the release said.
Babhalgao, which is nine km away from Latur is the village of Deshmukh. Riteish’s brother Amit is a Congress MLA from Latur constiturency. On the work front, the 37-year-old actor will be seen next in Housefull 3 and Banjo.
Latur is the worst affected city by drought in Marathwada. The city has been supplied with water by train wagons.
