Relief for ministers in Suraj Parmar case
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has provided relief to some of the politicians involved in the alleged suicide of builder Suraj Parmar.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has provided relief to some of the politicians involved in the alleged suicide of builder Suraj Parmar. He declared during Nagpur Aadhiveshan, that names of those that had been written in the second diary found recently would not be taken in into account as the diary was old. No one can take action against people named in the second diary, Mr Fadnavis said.
The police had discovered the second diary written by Parmar a few days ago. It is one-and-a-half-year-old in which he has written abbreviation like EK and ES, whom he had bribed to get approval for his projects. However, the chief minister clarified that, “No action will be taken on the basis of that diary, as it is old. Also, ES and EK does not mean Eknath Shinde and Eknath Khadse, they might be some other politicians or persons.”
Reacting to the CM’s statement, the police said, “We are investigating the people who are involved in the case.”
On December 1, the high court had ordered four corporators to surrender before the Kasarvadavli police station in Thane city on Saturday.
Four of them surrendered although the police were able to produce only two corporators in the court, including Najib Mulla and Vikrant Chavan.
Meanwhile, the holiday court remanded Hanumant Jagdale and Sudhakar Chavhan to police custody till December 14. Though both the accused had surrendered before the police on Saturday, they had handed over their medical certificate to the investigating officer due to which they were not produced before the court the same day. On the basis of these medical certificates the police took an opinion from medical experts and produced them before the court on Sunday.
The four accused had moved the high court after a sessions court in Thane city refused to grant them anticipatory bail earlier this year. On October 7, Parmar committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed firearm. He left behind a 13-page suicide note in which he mentioned the names of these corporators, who, he said, “made his life hell”.
He mentioned how a well-oiled nexus among TMC, PWD and these four elected representatives used arm-twisting tactics to make him cough up more and more money.
