The Slum Redevelopment Authority (SRA) has given clean chit to minister of state for housing Ravindra Waikar in connection with his alleged partnership in six SRA projects under construction in Western suburbs of the island city. Congress’ city president Sanjay Nirupam had claimed that Mr Waikar has hidden partnership in various SRA projects under banner of Aishwarya builders worth Rs 1,000 crore and being the minister of the state for housing, various permissions were granted speedily.
Refuting all charges, Mr Waikar, while speaking with select media persons said that the SRA has given clean chit in each and every case. “I had asked the SRA officials to give me details of each of the projects that Mr Nirupam had accused me of being in partnership with. After thorough enquiry, Vishwas Patil, the chief executive officer of SRA has submitted a detailed report to me,” said Mr Waikar.
Commenting on this, Mr Patil said that he has enquired with the builders and ministers allegedly involved with the case whether the projects were given speedy permissions, or not. “In our enquiry, it was seen that Mr Waikar was in partnership with Harmit Singh Gupta and Ashu Nihlani till 27 February 2006,” he said.
Mr Waikar said that he had given a loan of Rs 1.50 crore to Aishwarya Construction company and it is mentioned in the balance sheet of his account as well as in company’s balance sheet. “I have white money and I had never hid anything,” he said.
“I will put my stand in the House during assembly session, but I will also sue Mr Nirupam,” he added.
Mr Nirupam was not avaiable for comments.
