A well-known television actress and model has pressed charges against Rakesh Sawant, brother of actress Rakhi Sawant, for allegedly molesting and threatening her on Friday night. Soon after the incident, the model-actress filed a complaint with the Oshiwara police station and Rakesh was arrested and subsequently released on bail.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on Friday at around 9 pm when the television actress was in a coffee shop with her boyfriend. According to her statement to police, Rakesh was already present there with some of his friends and after seeing her, started passing lewd comments and even tried to click her photograph on his mobile phone.
The actress then approached Oshiwara police station and filed a complaint against Rakesh for misbehaving with her and abusing her.
Thereafter, police officials arrested Rakesh, who, according to them, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of arrest. The police has taken statements of both parties and registered a complaint against Rakesh for misbehaving with the actress.
The police is now investigating CCTV footage in the coffee shop. Rakesh was released on bond after he pleaded innocence.
The actress’ boyfriend has alleged that Rakesh was heavily drunk and passing lewd comments at other couples as well.
Rakesh Sawant said the model was spoiling his name to get publicity. “I was 20 feet away from the place where this lady was sitting. I was outside the coffee shop and she was sitting inside; suddenly a waiter approached me and told me that the girl has complained that a few are abusing her from outside. Later, this girl called the police and as I was present there, she took my name. When I reached there, many realised I was Rakhi’s brother, so she came to know about me and used my name to gain publicity.
Rakesh’s sister, Rakhi said, “She has done it intentionally to enter Bigg Boss as it only allows controversial people.”
The complainant has acted in television serials like Jhansi Ki Rani, Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki and Shakuntala.
