Police gets Ashwin Naik’S custody till December 27
A local magistrate court in Bhoiwada on Monday extended the police custody of former gangster Ashwin Naik till December 27, in an extortion case. He was caught red-handed by the Dadar police on Sunday while accepting extorted money.
The Dadar police arrested four more accused in the same case, one of them is a minor. Milind Parab (22), Avinash Khedkar (42), Sunny Pal (28) and a 17-year-old were arrested. Khedkar used a revolver to threaten the complainant for money. Police said they were able to recover a Scorpio car from the arrested accused.
An official from Dadar police station said, “ We have arrested four and are searching for a few more who are involved in several extortion cases apart from this one. We still have to recover the extortion money from the arrested accused. A few people have also come forward to provide statements against these accused.”
Earlier, the police had demanded Naik’s custody on the grounds that they wanted to recover money that he had extorted on earlier occasions, and vehicles from him. Naik was allegedly repeatedly extorting a real estate developer based in Central Mumbai. Acting on the developer’s complaint, a trap was laid and Naik was arrested soon after he accepted the money in Dadar.
He and his aides arrived in two cars at the given spot on Bhavani Shankar Road, which is near Dadar police station. The bag in which was kept Rs 15 lakh — the first installment of the extortion money, has been seized along with two Innovas belonging to the gangster.
