The Thane police has filed a chargesheet in Suraj Parmar’s suicide case 60 days from the date of arrests. Investigating officer Dilip Gore filed the chargesheet of 3,059 pages in the additional sessions court of V.V. Bambarde on Tuesday. The chargesheet included the suicide note written by Parmar and its FSL report. The police also attached minutes of the standing committee meeting of the Thane Municipal Corporation, statements of TMC officials and corporators in the chargesheet.

Parmar had sent some letters to his clients mentioning the problems that he had been facing with his housing projects. Copies of these letters along with the statements of the clients too have been attached with the chargesheet. Other documents used include a diary that the income tax department had found during a raid at Parmar’s home, mobile phone records, messages and e-mails that Parmar had exchanged with others.

The corporators — Vikrant Chavan (Congress), Najib Mulla, Hanumant Jagdale (NCP) and Sudhakar Chavan (independent) — had surrendered and been taken into custody by Kasar Wadavli police station in Thane on December 5.

The corporators had come under the scanner after a forensic test was conducted on the 14-page suicide note that Parmar had left behind. The names were first written and later cancelled. The deceased builder had revealed in the note that a nexus of corporators and officials had been harassing him for bribes. Following this, the police had registered a case of abetment of suicide against the corporators and ‘criminal misconduct’ under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
