PM Modi to kick off work on Shivaji memorial in May

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the ground-breaking ceremony of the Chhatrapati Shivaji memorial in the Arabian Sea would be performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May at a suita

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the ground-breaking ceremony of the Chhatrapati Shivaji memorial in the Arabian Sea would be performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May at a suitable date when the tide is low. He was addressing a gathering here after inaugurating the project office and emergency management plan cell for the memorial in the Arabian Sea.

“Since the area of the Shiv Smarak is small, the timing of bhoomipujan will be decided keeping in mind the low tide. Besides due to a shortage of space, the programme will be a short affair and the function will be held on a large scale at some other place,” Mr Fadnavis said.

“Shivaji Maharaj himself loved discipline and planning and, thus, the work of the memorial will proceed at a fast pace and will be completed within a stipulated time,” he added. He said the state could get all the permissions that were pending since 15 years in just 12 months and all the work will be completed in stipulated time. “As announced we are committed to building this grand memorial in 40 months and the project consultant has been appointed already,” he said.
