A 35-year-old court peon was arrested on Tuesday night by the Borivali police after a case of criminal breach of trust was filed against him.

A 35-year-old court peon was arrested on Tuesday night by the Borivali police after a case of criminal breach of trust was filed against him. Vijay Ramkrishna Pashte was produced in court on Wednesday and remanded to police custody till April 1. He was booked after he lost the coat of the metropolitan magistrate and the necessary court stamp seal.

Pashte works as a court peon in Borivali metropolitan magistrate court number 17. On March 23, magistrate Prasad Kulkarni, before leaving the court, gave his coat and court seal to his clerk to submit in the locker, stating that he would need it on March 25 as he had to attend an hearing in the Holiday Court, Bandra.

With both March 24 and 25 being holidays, Pashte decided to carry the coat and seal with him as he was supposed to hand it over to the magistrate in the Holiday Court on March 25. However, Pashte lost the coat and seal, following which, he lodged a case in Bandra railway police station.

As the court stamp is an important property and anyone can misuse it, a case was registered against him in Borivali police station.

Advocate Bidaye, Pashte’s lawyer said that Pashte was carrying the items with him in a bag but while on his way back home, he kept the bag on the train rack and left the bag in the train while alighting at Mahim.
