Two doctors from the medical department of D.Y. Patil Hospital at Nerul were assaulted on Thursday night by the relatives of a patient. As per the FIR filed by the doctors, the accused threatened to kill the doctors and ended up assaulting them.
Two doctors from first year and second year were assaulted by the relatives of a parent while they were coming downstairs after finishing their evening rounds. The relatives had a disagreement with the doctors over the line of treatment that the patient was being given even though the patient is stable and in the normal ward.
As per the FIR, the complainant Dr Rajat Khandelwal, both the doctors were kicked and punched by the relatives. The accused also threatened to kill both the doctors.
Dr Sagar Mundada, president of central Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) said, “We would like to remind the authorities that the proposal for amendment in the DPA act 2010 must be put for discussion in winter session of parliament, failing which strict measures will be taken from our side.”
