In case of the couple who stayed overnight at CST railway station retiring room with the lady allegedly dying of food poisoning, sources said that police had come across clues indicating negligence on the part of railway officials.

The Asian Age had earlier reported that an army officer, Ziaur Rahman (32) and his wife, Nazia (28), both residents of West Bengal, alighted from Madgaon Express at CST railway station, Mumbai, late night on April 22. According to sources, the couple brought biryani served on Madgaon Express, which they later ate in the CST station retiring room. Soon after, Nazia started feeling nauseous. Soon, her husband too started vomiting. When Nazia fell unconscious, officials rushed the duo to St George's Hospital, where Nazia was declared dead before admission.

Sources said while the biryani the couple ate was from Madgaon Express pantry, the spoons and plates used were from the retiring room. As the room had recently undergone pest control, it was possible the utensils had been affected in the process. What was especially brought to notice was that the railways allowed a private group to conduct pest control in the room without entering into a contract with the party.
