The actress’ grieving family had to wait for more than 24 hours to perform her last rites owing to delay in conducting the post-mortem.
Pratyusha’s mother, Soma Banerjee, who was waiting in the hospital with other family members and television personalities, lost her temper and started shouting, “When will we get the body We have been waiting since morning for her last rites!”
The actress’ body was shifted to Siddartha Hospital at 10 am on Saturday for the post-mortem but her family had to wait till 5.30pm to begin her last rites.
Asked about the reason for the delay, Pratima Avinash Patil, chief medical officer, Siddhartha Hospital, said, “As the post-mortem of the hospital comes under supervision of the state police, we cannot comment on it. They are not accountable to us.”
