Ahmednagar collector Anil Kawade, who had earlier denied permission for the Dussehra rally at Bhagwangad to be held on Tuesday, has changed his decision and permitted women and child development minister Pankaja Munde to hold the rally. She had insisted that even if the district administration doesn’t allow it, she would address the rally as per schedule. The rally will now be held at the helipad at Bhagwangad.

Mahant Namdev Shastri, who is the head priest of Bhagwangad’s temple trust, had challenged Ms Munde on delivering the speech informing her that he had deployed men to prevent her from doing so.

The Munde family has had strong ties with the Bhagwangad temple, where it addresses the Vanjari community every year.

Ms Munde stood her ground saying, “The Dussehra rally was started by my baba (Late Gopinath Munde) and he had addressed several rallies from Bhagwangad on Dussehra. It’s a tradition and nobody can stop us,” said Ms Munde.

She further said that as a daughter of Gopinath Munde and Bhagwanbaba, I have the right to address the people who have showered me with affection.

When asked about leakage of her conversations with Mahant Namdev Shastri on WhatsApp, where she is heard threatening the head priest, Ms Munde denied any wrongdoing.

“I don’t have differences with Shastriji. In fact, I have respect for him. I will never do anything that will spoil the decorum of the place.”

Meanwhile it has been revealed that in her private conversation with a few supporters, Ms Munde allegedly told them not to aggravate the issue and instead to wait till the rally was over after which she would deal with Shastri.

On the other hand, in a leaked audio clip, even the Shastri is heard saying that he had deployed a few men at Bhagwangad to stop Ms Munde from reaching venue for her speech.
