One more held in IPL fake ticket case

The Marine drive police of south Mumbai has arrested one more accused in connection with a month-old bogus Indian Premier league (IPL) ticket case.

The Marine drive police of south Mumbai has arrested one more accused in connection with a month-old bogus Indian Premier league (IPL) ticket case. Other two accused of the case were nabbed immediately after the case was lodged, while the third accused was caught on Saturday and later produced in a local court. He has been remanded in police custody till Monday. The arrested accused has been identified as Ibrahim Samad Khan (58), said police sources.

According to them, a case was registered on April 28 against the accused and the two of them were nabbed from CST railway station. During interrogation, the arrested accused directed the police to Ibrahim and following the information, he was caught from South Mumbai on Saturday. The gang had on April 28 approached the complainant, offering to sell him IPL tickets. The complainant purchased five tickets for Rs 25,000 for the match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders on the same day. Later in the evening when the complainant reached the stadium to watch the match with four of his friends, the local security officials informed them that their tickets are bogus. Following the incident, the victim approached the police. The two other accused of the case have been identified as Namdev Govind Dendage and Hitesh Narottam Vaidhya, said the police. All three have been booked under the relevant sections of IPC of cheating and fraud. The police officials are now checking if the accused have been involved in similar kinds of crime in the past.
