One person has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old milk seller in Nallasopara area. A police search is on for three others in connection with the case including the main accused.
According to a senior police official of Tulinj police station, one of the four accused was working for the deceased earlier and after he fired him from the job, he decided to take revenge.
The police did not release the name of any of the accused persons.
The deceased Subhash Chandra Gupta alias Bhaloo Gupta, was saying in Valaipada area of Nallasopara east with his relatives. Gupta’s family runs a milk-selling business and Bhaloo was also into it. Every day Gupta along with his brother used to go to housing societies to sell milk. On Wednesday too, he went out to sell milk but there was no sign of his return till Thursday afternoon. So his elder brother approached the police.
During the search for Gupta officials recovered his body from a well in Pragati Nagar area. Following this they registered a murder case in Tulinj police station. According to the police sources a gold chain and gold ring were also missing from Gupta’s body.
Commenting on the arrest, a senior official from the police station told The Asian Age that main accused was working in the shop of Gupta, and around two months ago he stole some money from the shop. An upset Gupta fired him from the job, which angered the main accused and he wanted to take revenge on Gupta. Around two days ago, the main accused had an altercation with Gupta, in which Gupta allegedly manhandled him, the police said. After this the accused decided to kill Gupta.
The main accused invited Gupta to Pragati Nagar on Wednesday under the pretext of a liquor party, and when Gupta reached there he allegedly strangled Gupta to death with the help of three of his accomplices.
The police arrested one of the accused after Gupta’s brother gave a statement about the fight between the main accused and Gupta. The arrested accused has been booked under section 302 of IPC for murder, while search for the other accused persons is going on.
