Six labourers, who were working at the building, and a woman on whom the scaffolding fell, were rushed to Krishna and Shatabdi Hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Prakash Vinod Patra. Another labourer, Beepin (35) has been critically injured while the other five are also undergoing treatment.
According to sources from the police, the incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Chaugale Nagar, Sawarpada near lord Shani Temple at Ekdant Apartment situated at Dahisar (east) area. The labourers were involved in the plaster work for which a bamboo scaffolding was created. They were working on the eighth floor of the building when it collapsed.
The local DCP of zone 12, M. Ramkumar said that an FIR has been registered in the matter. “We have booked a case under sections 304 (Amounting to murder), 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 288 Intentional insult or interruption to public servant sitting in judicial proceeding) of IPC,” said Mr Ramkumar. No arrests were made on Tuesday.
