‘Observe Prophet’s birthday as World Peace Day’

In a bid to clear the misconception about Islam being a religion of terror, Raza Academy has written to the president of India to observe Eid-e-Milad, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad as World Peace Day as he was a messenger of peace, and terrorist acts are being perpetrated in the name of Islam by terror outfits, thus maligning the image of Islam. The academy made the announcement at Minara Masjid on Monday.
Maulana Saeed Noori, general secretary of Raza Academy said that in the past couple of years there was a general misconception about Islam being a religion of terror based on which some persons had started abusing and maligning the prophet. “There is an urgent need to make people understand that Prophet Mohammad was against violence of any type and on the contrary encouraged peaceful coexistence of different religions. This trait of the prophet endeared him to people from all religions and hence we want the government to observe Id-e-Milad as World Peace Day,” said Mr Noori.
He further added that the government could easily identify terrorist groups as they did not celebrate Id-e-Milad. “Terror outfits like the Daesh (ISIS), Lashkar-e-Toiba, Boko Haram, al Qaeda and Taliban do not celebrate the prophet’s birthday and criticise people who celebrate it. They are all born from the Wahabi ideology and the government should crack down on such elements,” said Mr Noori.
Referring to the press release by Kamlesh Tiwari against Prophet Mohammad, Mr Noori said that while the UP government has done nothing to take him to task, an FIR has been lodged at Pydhonie police station under Section 295 and 153A of IPC for hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims and creating tensions.
“A strong ordinance should be passed in the Assembly for all crimes related to religious insults aimed at harming the secular fabric of the country,” said Mr Noori.
