The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has said that it will not be conducting a re-exam for the Book Keeping and Accountancy paper of the HSC board exams that had allegedly been leaked minutes before the scheduled start of the exam. Officials from the Mumbai division of the board have said that the inquiry into the leak has shown that the paper had gone to only 20 students through social media hence it was not construed as a leak and hence the decision of not having a re-exam.

On March 4, just a few minutes before the scheduled start of the exam, a supervisor at an exam center in the western suburbs had apprehended a student with snapshots of the question paper on the mobile phone.

The supervisor alerted the divisional board authorities, who in turn lodged a complaint with the cyber cell to investigate the source of the snapshots that had been circulated through social networking application WhatsApp.

The cyber cell during investigations found that the paper had been circulated among very few students and informed about the same to the board.

Speaking about the outcome of the investigation into the leak, Dattatray Jagtap, chairman, Mumbai division of the MSBSHSE said, “The police have informed that the snapshots were circulated among very few students and hence it cannot be construed as a paper leak.”

“In light of this report of the police, the board has decided not to conduct a re-exam for the said paper,” he added.
