Senior NCP leader and spokesperson Nawab Malik on Wednesday filed a complaint with the police about receiving death threats from unknown persons. Mr Malik gave a written complaint to Pravin Dixit, director general of police and Ahmed Javed, city police commissioner, requesting them to take action against the

culprits. Mr Malik claimed he had been receiving death threats on his mobile number since the past few days. He alleged unknown persons had been threatening him for targeting senior BJP leaders.

“Since last week, I have been receiving calls from different numbers threatening me with my life. The callers want that I don’t target BJP leaders for the sake of my safety,” the NCP leader told this newspaper.

“I had made allegations against some senior BJP leaders which they may not have been able to digest. After I demanded a probe against them, my telephone number was circulated by BJP workers,” he said. Along with a written complaint, Mr Malik also submitted call records to Mr Dixit and Mr Javed. Significantly, Mr Malik had taken to task senior BJP leaders like Vinod Tawde in the last few months.

He had questioned the qualification of Mr Tawde, who claimed to have obtained a mechanical engineering degree. He had said Mr Tawde was a class 12 failure and dared him to make his mark sheet public.
