NCP leader’s spouse gets bail in bribery case
A local court in Mumbai on Tuesday granted bail to NCP women’s wing president Chitra Wagh’s husband Kishor Wagh in a bribery case of Rs 4 lakh.
A local court in Mumbai on Tuesday granted bail to NCP women’s wing president Chitra Wagh’s husband Kishor Wagh in a bribery case of Rs 4 lakh. The amount was allegedly accepted from the brother of a deceased patient and Kishor Wagh was arrested for his alleged role in taking the bribe.
On Tuesday, Wagh was produced before special ACB judge S.V. Ranpise and he sought further four days police custody on the ground that the investigation was still incomplete.
On the other hand, Wagh’s lawyer Joyal Carlos opposed the application and said the amount had already been recovered and eight days was sufficient to interrogate the accused and hence, he should be remanded in judicial custody.
The judge accepted the arguments and remanded Wagh to judicial custody. Following this, advocate Carlos filed bail plea claiming that his client is falsely implicated in the case. He argued that the applicant has no direct duty or authority with respect to the grant of compensation to the complainant and is neither signing authority for the same
It was also argued that the prosecution case does not indicate any manner in which the applicant would have a reason to ask for a bribe as the applicant was not in a position to grant or refuse any compensation.
The voice transcripts recorded by the prosecution also does not show any conversation wherein the applicant asked for any bribe.
