Mumbai University convocation to be held across colleges on January 24
The Mumbai University has announced that the Annual Convocation Ceremony will be taking place on January 24. The most interesting aspect however is that this year onward, the ceremony will be held simultaneously across all affiliated colleges of the varsity.
Officials said that instead of having select students participate in the main convocation ceremony, the university decided it should be held in colleges as well so that all graduating students got an opportunity to participate in it.
A circular to that effect was issued by the university recently where colleges were asked to conduct the ceremony and invite a well-known personality to give the Convocation address.
University sources said that the convocation ceremony that is usually held in December had been postponed for many reasons such as the 102nd Indian Science Congress but the main reason was printing of degree certificates. “Though previously only certificates of students attending the convocation were printed, efforts are on to provide certificates to all students on the day of the convocation itself,” a source said.
