Dr Swapnil Torne, spokesperson of the university, said a meeting of the board of studies and various ad-hoc committees of held had dwelt on the issue of the problems faced by candidates pursuing a doctorate. “Some of the problems that came to light included tedious submission process, loss and damage to submissions during the postal journey, wastage of paper due to the criteria of candidates having to submit up to eight copies of their research report and submissions among others,” he said.
As a result, many candidates had been required to resubmit their projects or had had to grapple with inadvertent delays. In addition, the process of sending the submission for assessment to experts in physical form was time consuming and often caused unnecessary issues, The university wanted to address these issues immediately.
“The meeting mulled over various options that could be an alternate to physical submissions and came to a unanimous decision of reverting to the online process,” said Dr Torne.
