More students turned away from CET

The second day of the Law Common Entrance Test proved to be a huge hurdle for candidates as many were turned away and not allowed to appear for it as they did not have proper identification documents.

In the absence of a proper helpline number, candidates were seen running from pillar to post but in vain. According to exam centre heads, they had no option but to ask students to approach the State Common Entrance Test Cell at Bandra (east). In light of the mess, the Yuva Sena has demanded that the CET for both the five-year and three-year courses be conducted again.

According to an exam centre head in the suburbs, according to the instructions from the State CET Cell apart from the hall ticket candidates had to bring along an identification document like Aadhaar card or passport in original to be eligible to take the test. However, as many candidates did not bring the documents, they had to be turned away.

“We had to follow the guidelines strictly and hence could not accommodate candidates who did not have any of the documents. We asked them to visit the state CET Cell office at Bandra (east) to lodge complaints,” said the exam head, under the condition of anonymity.

A similar scene had played out on Saturday when the CET was held for the five-year course. Hundreds of students from all over the state faced similar problems and were unable to appear for the test. As a result they will not be able to pursue the course this year.
