MNS wants action against unregistered daily wagers
The MNS has filed a police complaint demanding action against unregistered daily wage workers, who are working in posh areas like BKC and Bandra. The MNS cited security threat in the city, which has been on alert lately in the backdrop of the Paris terror attacks, as the reason behind its move.
The MNS will also soon write the labor commissioner on the matter. Commenting on the issue, Akhil Chitre, vice-president of MNS youth wing said, “Taking security as our prime concern we asked for a compulsory registration of every wage worker who is coming from another state, in which their details and information about native place should be cross-checked. Anyone can enter the city and as there is already a security threat, I asked for a registration through which details of wage workers will get submitted with police so they will be able to take any action if needed.”
Mr Chitre further added, “In our personal investigations we have found that there are several laborers migrated in Mumbai from Bangladesh and other states with no necessary documents, so we have written to the Kherwadi police station and the Bandra-Kurla complex (BKC) police station to verify if the thousands of migrant workers present mainly in the suburbs are registered in the city as per the Maharashtra Labor Act. In case any incident happens in the city and someone from these is involved in the incident, how will he be caught if there are no details available with the police about him ” According to a police official of BKC, police is now investigating further in the matter.
