According to civic officials, MNS corporators Sandeep Deshpande and Santosh Dhuri on Wednesday went to BMC Engineering Hub at Worli and asked Sanjay Darade, chief engineer (roads), to visit potholes on the NC Kelkar Marg in Dadar. After he arrived, they allegedly forced him to hold a placard, which read, “I, being the chief engineer (roads) am responsible for potholes on roads.”
An upset Mr Darade called on Mr Mehta and reportedly offered to resign. He later filed a complaint at Shivaji Park police station. “In the complaint I have mentioned that MNS corporators in a planned manner took me to the spot and raised slogans. They humiliated me mentally and also tried to defame me,” said Mr Darade.
Taking serious note of this, civic chief Ajoy Mehta has sought the opinion of the legal department to disqualify the MNS leaders as corporators. Meanwhile, Mr Deshpande said, “We had made several complaints to the civic body about potholes on city roads. But the BMC officials are just not bothered about the difficulties people are facing due to potholes. There was no other way left to make them realise common man’s inconvenience.”
